of The Illiad and The Odyssey for many years were not written down. The tradition of passing on stories
from recitation instead of from writing and reading came before writing in many
cultures. Tell me briefly about the person who wrote these epic poems. Can you think of modern examples

2. Explain how a city-state is different
from an empire or a tribe. Give

value today that come from the Greeks.
